Rydia of Mist- Always Together by tomo-chi Rydia of Mist- Always Together by tomo-chi
Please Full View!

Not even death can prevent a mother from protecting her only daughter.

Rydia has always been one of my favorite characters from any video game, let alone any Final Fantasy game. The story revolving around her, and her mother's untimely death, was always very poignant. As a tribute, I decided to try and create my own version of these two.

I used only the oldest references for them, meaning the small bit-sprites from the Super Nintendo game. That is why the dragon is a bit add-libbed, as are her clothes. I am aware of the new designs, but I wanted to try and interpret these characters in my own way.

This picture is about 32" x 24", which is why I had to take a photo of it, instead of scanning. I apologize if the quality is not as good, but it was the best I could do. Thank you for viewing. Comments are appreciated.

It's not, no. It's actually my interpretation of her summon "Mist Dragon". :3

It's very beautiful - though I don't know much about the story of Final Fantasy IV - which will change with it's re-release come this spring or summer! :aww: Is the dragon Leviathan?

Gotta love the colours <3 And the way you did her hair.

I like the clothes design too, lots of details. The lights and shadows on the dragons face are well done.

Oh, thank you. The dragon colors made me very nervous, but I literally plunged in and figured 'do or die'.

I like the fact that you did it based on what you viewed the sprite to look like. FFII/IV was my first FF game, and I played it when it first came out on SNES, so I had a long time to visualize the characters, and suddenly in the past few years, with the release of it on the DS, everyone's . . basically copying Amano's artwork. I like seeing people use their imaginations.

While I enjoy the new versions of her, I have to say that I am not terribly fond with any of them (the DS sprites are good, but the actual artwork and the 3D version from the PS release were just awful).

It was also my first FF. <3! I learned how to hook up my brother's SNES so I could play it. After that, I was more willing to try the ones he had for NES and it grew from there. <3

Well the quality came out just perfectly, you did a nice job :)

I like the way you wanted to "try and interpret these characters" in your own way, and you did an amazing job at doing so, keep up the good work! :ahoy:
